Seriously, it’s high time now to say “No to Drugs” ~ the story of Brayden Travis

Drug usage among teenagers is rising at an alarming rate across the world. The dangerous trend doesn’t seem to wait, even for a second.
Brayden Travis, an American, became a victim to drug addiction during the wee years of his life. The narration of Brayden’s story by his mother Kelly, in an effort to create awareness , will move you to the core.
Here it goes,
“I normally don't share or discuss personal issues on FB, however I feel this is necessary due to the nature of this horrific situation!
My son is Brayden Travis and he is 18 years old! Most people on here know him, or know of him. You're about to learn something very personal about him, but it serves as purpose as you read!
My son is an addict and has struggled with drugs since he was 15 years old. My son's first choice of drug was marijuana, which in time led to other drugs. The ultimate dead end road drug for my son was heroin, as is for a lot of teens/adults. He used last Wednesday at some point in the night and overdosed from a very deadly cocktail of heroin & Xanax. Heroin alone will kill you, as well as Xanax. He laid for at least 7 hours or longer before he received medical attention due to no one calling 911, possibly in fear of suspected consequences. Medical personnel believe my son should have been dead long before he was able to get the medical attention he needed, but for some unknown reason he has stabilized. His lungs and kidneys had failed and his heart was functioning at 10-20%. His body temperature was 90 degrees and was very cold to the touch. Brayden ended up with severe pneumonia from aspirating. I was told by two doctors he wouldn't make it through the night. Brayden has pulled through all of it besides the damage to his brain. While overdosing and in nonresponsive state, Brayden suffered a stroke. He has experienced severe damage to the Hipocampus and Cerebellum parts of his brain.
Neurologists tell me he will never wake up and if he does, he will remain in a vegetative state. It's been exactly one week since Brayden has overdosed. He is making progress, but we have a long road to travel. Even though the outcome is not expected to be positive, as a mother I will not give up until I have exhausted all options and know that I've done everything I can. Although I'm not, nor will be prepared to, I now I will need to let him go and send him on his way if we receive no results once all of our efforts have been exhausted. Miracles happen everyday and my son is a fighter and very strong.
I share this with each of you in hopes that you won't feel pity or be offended, but rather share and get these pictures in front of your teenagers. Don't be scared to share the horrific outcome of what most likely will happen when using heroin! It's not the only drug that will kill you either.
PLEASE! PLEASE!......if my son's story and picture can save one life or contribute to the education and awareness of drug abuse, then he and I are very happy! He wouldn't want this for anyone else and he would tell anyone not to use drugs...ever! I can tell you he tried to fight this addiction and I pray this time it hasn't won!

HOPE and PRAYER has made miracles happen with the progression of his recovery so far. If you want to know what you can do, please continue to pray! Thank you and please share and share and SHARE! I want this story and pictures put out there for all to see!”

Brayden, before becoming an addict

Brayden, after OD
The good news is Brayden did not succumb to the overdose. He woke up and is happy.  When I enquired Brayden’s mother about his present health condition, she told me, “He only has to relearn to walk and use muscles again. Everything else if completely healed besides brain damage (Anoxic brain injury)”.

Brayden, now

Brayden is back from hospital. He’s doing great and is recovering steadily. Yes, he got a second chance to live but the bleak truth is, others might not be as lucky.
The picture of drug abuse is no better even in India.
Statistics reveal that at least 25,426 people committed suicide due to drug and addiction related problems in the last 10 years across India. This comes down to an average 2,542 suicides every year, 211 per month and 7 per day.
During the last four years (2011 to 2014), around 100 million kilogram of drugs was seized across India.
The only way to put an end to this misery is by saying ‘NO to drugs’ because..
“no child’s dream is to become an addict, no parent intends to raise an addict. It can happen to anyone, no one is immune to the disease of addiction. So when someone “judges or says it’s their choice, think again” – unknown author.

My sister Titli...

My sister Ankita Bhattacharya,
lives in Australia,
speaks like Alia,
looks like Dino Morea...

Loves to eat pan fried momo,
is against people who are against homo,
hates to eat raw tomato,
Shouts like crazy "NAMO NAMO"...

She has suddenly become fat,
but she has promised to quickly reduce that,
so that she can run like a rat,
to escape from Tom the cat...

She thinks she's very gyani,
and starts lecturing like the maashimonis,
also loves to eat chocolate brownie,
and advises everyone to watch Mardaani...

When noone's around she loves to fart,
and calls it a creative art,
because it gives pleasure to her heart,
afterwards she prepares to restart...

Her nickname is Titli,
the bengali translation is projapoti,
her teeth has a lot of cavity,
she has firm faith in astrology...

Don't mess with her,
if you do she will throw you in the gutter,
and call you the biggest loafer,
because this is what she does when she gets hyper...

My friend Shruti

My friend Shruti
is a cutie,
is also a good beti
who buys agarvatti.

But do not be deceived
by the behaviour you will receive
you will find her cool initially
she will change her colour gradually

so never ever ever ever follow her path
as she is the female version of alok nath
can irritate anybody with her endless lecture
do not do this or do not do that, is what she generally manufactures.

Whenever exam knocks on the door
she doesn't lie on the floor
instead she goes to Govinda
and joins her hands in front of Lord Krishna

Bus, that's all..
arrey.. do not fall
be strong like shruti
as she only eats vegetarian ruti

Shruti Dugar, Shruti Dugar
where are you
where are you
do not go away
do not go away
I will miss you
I will miss you

Marriage is a Social Evil

It is very sad for me to think in this manner but I absolutely can't help. In the very beginning I want to clarify that it's my personal opinion and I don't force anything upon anybody.

"Marriage is a Social Evil"..both for women and men....predominantly women.."is what I think"..

I think marriage plays a very significant role in the rise of domestic violence...generally domestic violence is associated with women.....so think about this..had the thing called marriage did not exist there would not have been any sort of domestic crime at anybody's house because the woman would not have to change her place of living and begin to stay at somebody else's house...which is a problem...because at the remote places of India, women don't work, even in the metro cities, women don't work...sometimes willingly and sometimes forcefully...willingly because most of them were taught by their parents from their childhood that women are meant to stay back at home and look and care for the family.......by saying this I don't mean that women shouldn't look after the family but what about the husbands......don't they have any responsibility?

Now, I'll tell you why marriage is a social evil.....first of all I think commitment is what is important and there's no need to mark it by performing some rituals which carry absolutely no value.....mostly rituals are performed on the pretext of demand from god...now why would God want you to perform these rituals? How is it going to benefit? See, it's not a question of benefiting or losing, it's about logic? Do you think god would forgive a criminal who has killed 10 people because he is very diligent with rituals or do you think honesty is more important? So here lies my point, being loyal and HONEST to your partner is more important than MARRIAGE.... Now people would ask what if somebody cheats in a relationship? To answer that question I would say that it's better to live alone than living with somebody who doesn't love you.

Another thing which is why I'm strictly against marriage is because people tend to think marriage is life for women. Why does a woman have to change her surname after marriage or mark the marriage by wearing "shidoor" or those "shakha and pola" and etc etc..Marriage is a part of life, IT IS NOT YOUR LIFE.........People don't understand this point......Women leave their jobs for marriage, sometimes they don't start working only BEASUSE ONE DAY THEY WILL GET MARRIED? Companies don't give jobs to women apprehending that they would soon resign either for marriage or for pregnancy...Still, in this 21st century, in laws have problems if the wives work outside...my point is, what is the need of leaving your own house and living in somebody else's house after marriage...a woman should never compromise on her individuality, no matter what.....she should never take somebody else's surname or even add it....she is supposed to make her children use her surname because she is the one who is carrying the baby for 9 months not the husband........I don't know what kind of a society I'm living in....where the women leaves her house, stays at somebody else's house, changes her surname, carries a baby for 9 month, gives birth to it and once it's out, the baby adopts the father's surname....and most importantly, THE GUY OF A FAMILY IS REPONSIBLE TO CARRY THE FAMILY FORWARD......what non-sense is this? Where is the standpoint of the girl? Does she have no importance? Technically, with her help the family is moving forward......

What I firmly believe in is the rituals were created by spiritual PEOPLE before...they were also people, just like you and me...they used to fool others saying that this is what God wants from us and since people weren't educated at that time, they used to engulf everything they said and this is how everything got started...so I don't think just because people have been following the culture, we have to also do the same........it's time to bring a change and put a full stop to all these things.......It's time that women should learn to find their way through and compete with men......and as for men, marriage has trapped them as well.....may be not by social ritual wise but there are many men who suffer for marriage which should stop....women should learn to loosen the grip and provide space for men to breathe and marriage is not life, it's only a part so it's better to not get married and live happily ever after....

HOW CAN WE HELP STOP RAPE

The most discussed and spoken topic in the recent times..''RAPE''..

The question that arises there after,'' What is the punishment? ''

No. 1 -  Hang them.
So, all the pain the victim went through can be removed by just a pull of a rope !

No. 2 - Jail them.
Okay, so our hard-earned money will be used in feeding the rapists. Alright, even if that happens, will the accused stop raping after coming out of the jail?

No. 3 - Castrate them.
Well that sounds good. Excruciating them in the same manner they have done.

But the question still remains unanswered, ''Will this stop the rape culture?''

'' Will the crude minds stop ravishing girls fearing the consequences? ''

    Very very difficult to determine.

Holding candle light vigils may cause the government to amend the laws but it will not stop the spread of the epidemic psychological disease that drives these beasts to exploit girls.

Few days after the sad gang rape case took place in the so-called capital of the country, another similar rape happened again on a moving bus in the former capital of the country.

Is there a single percent shame left in the people of this vast country?

According to the statistics, in every 22 minutes, one rape is happening.
Is this the country where I live in?

Where will we go for help?
To the police to get raped for another time?

Will the future generation call themselves Indians with pride or in shame?
What if the disease passes on to the gen-next as well?

What can I do?

Well, nothing other than sit and write pages after pages to vent out my agony.
Will that help?
Can I go and sack the politicians who breed rapists?
Do I have the authority?
Do I live in a democracy?
If I give up my life, will the rape culture come to an end?

NOTHING, I CAN DO NOTHING.
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Sometimes I wonder, did the freedom fighters fight to release our country from the foreign rule to give a platform to the rapists to rape?
Is this another revolution?

SAD, VERY VERY SAD.

Just like Pakistan is associated with Terrorism,
soon India will be associated with Rapism.
